BRIDGEPORT, CT– People’s United Bank Mobile Banking customers will now enjoy the benefits of Touch ID authentication for Apple® smartphones, including iPhone® 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6+, iPhone 6s, and iPhone 6s+ using iOS8® or higher.

The new Touch ID feature leverages Apple’s latest biometric technology to allow for faster and more secure access to key account information from a mobile device.

"Features like Touch ID, Mobile Deposit and Apple Pay support are just some of the ways in which we are enhancing our mobile customer experience," said Jack Barnes, President and Chief Executive Officer, People’s United Bank. "Touch ID makes simple inquiries − on balances, accounts, and activity − effortless."

Now, instead of entering a user ID and password, a People’s United Bank Mobile Banking customer may match a fingerprint against a registered print to quickly view balances, accounts, and account activity.

"No account data is ever stored on the phone and our Mobile Banking continues to utilize the best practices for mobile security, including high-grade encryption and application time-out when a phone is not in use."
