People's United Bank Bolsters Western Massachusetts Market Leadership

David Hobert Joins as Regional President; Tom Wolcott Promoted to Head of Business Banking - West

Springfield, MA – People’s United Bank announced today two new leadership positions in Western Massachusetts.  The leadership team includes two local bankers, further reinforcing People’s commitment to the community. David Hobert, a resident of Longmeadow, joins People’s United as Regional President, responsible for the bank’s commercial business and community relationships, while working in conjunction with the retail bank.  Thomas Wolcott, a resident of Wilbraham and a Senior Relationship Manager with the bank since 2009, is promoted to head of Business Banking, Western Massachusetts.

“We are pleased to welcome David to People’s United and look forward to his leadership in Western Massachusetts, an important market for the bank,” said Patrick Sullivan, Massachusetts President. “I have known David for many years; and he will serve this area well. His responsibilities will include broadening our presence in the western part of the state with customers seeking a relationship-based, full-service commercial and retail bank. His proven experience and leadership throughout his career along with his deep roots in Western Massachusetts make him ideally suited to lead our team.”

Hobert brings 28 years of experience in banking and financial services to the position, including expertise in commercial banking, business development and relationship building as well as large corporate-specialized lending and global banking and markets. He began his career at Westbank before moving to BayBanks and BankBoston. Most recently, Hobert was Executive Director, Santander Global Banking and Markets and, prior, he was Senior Vice President, Specialized Lending at Sovereign Business Capital. He graduated from Western New England College.

“Tom has contributed significantly to our organization since joining People’s United in 2009 as Senior Vice President in Middle Market banking,” Sullivan said. “He has successfully developed and expanded relationships with new and existing clients throughout the footprint. Tom will work with our Business Banking team and look to grow relationships in his home markets of Western Massachusetts, while also assisting David in expanding the bank’s community involvement.”

Wolcott has over 20 years of experience as a relationship manager throughout Massachusetts, and has previously held positions of increasing responsibility at BankBoston, Fleet National, Sovereign and Citizens. He earned his bachelors from Western New England College and Masters in Economics from Northeastern University.
